Figuring It All Out

Sometimes I want to go to bed before other people in my apartment. One night I thought, "I wish you could take your ears out like you take your contacts out." Then I remembered hearing aids exist--kinda the same dealio.

I'm a Dancer

Today I almost fell over--I was already sitting down.

Midnight Love Notes

Have you ever texted yourself before? I've heard some people do it when they're lonely and wish someone else would be texting them. This is very sad, in my opinion, in the sad of sad ways. But this isn't what I'm referring to. I text myself reminders all the time. If I think I'm going to forget something during the day I write it on my hand (causing blue and black smudges to crawl up my wrist and arm); but if I'm afraid I'll lose a thought just before I go to sleep, I'll text it to myself. Funny thing is, more often than not this occurs during that half-awake-half-asleep stage, at the time when senses and all logic are impaired, and consequently, when I receive the text (a mere fifteen seconds later) I often think someone is texting me. My first thought: "Who in heaven's name is texting me at this unearthly hour." My second thought: "Oh, it was me." Most of the time I think I need to save the thought because it is most genius and will naturally be the start of my first best-seller; however, my rested brain tends to have a different opinion of such notes by the next morning.
The disappointment I feel upon discovering I sent myself a text, and knowing it probably will just be deleted in the morning anyway, reminds me of how I felt when I finally read a letter I had written to myself. My primary class had an activity when I was nine where we wrote ourselves letters about who we wanted to be when we turned twenty. I actually took this seriously and held on to my letter--sealed--for all those years. I even forgot we were to open it when we were twenty and thought it was twenty-one, so I ended up waiting an extra year! Anyway, when I finally sat down to open it, I had built up so much hype, I'm sad to say I was disappointed with the discovery: "I want to be kind and righteous." I thought I was going to learn about my future career, the name of the man I am to marry, and the answers to all of my problems.

Moral of the story: I don't know everything.
....no, that can't be right.

New Moral: Don't give yourself advice when you don't know anything about how you are really feeling and the circumstances surrounding your situation.

6 Seconds

That's how long it took me to figure this out. I must be a genius.

They say only people with an IQ with 140 and over are able to figure this out.

If:
2 + 3 = 10
7 + 2 = 63
6 + 5 = 66
8 + 4 = 96

Then:
9 + 7 =????

I'm a Damsel in Distress--Save Me

You know those fairytale ideas you have about life, the kind you're told never come true? Well, at a certain age you finally realize you can't stand in the tallest tower in a poofy dress with elbow-length gloves and wait for Prince Charming (yes, that is a proper noun) to sweep you off your feet. You know why not? Because poofy isn't a real word. And because Prince Charming will never come. So, what do you do instead? you make a plan and you move forward in life. But! low and behold, the plan doesn't work out either.

I don't know. I simply don't know. Where is a magic 8 ball when you need one?

"What's Wrong?"

When a girl asks, “What’s wrong?” it’s because she honestly believes something is wrong, and will continue believing so until the air has cleared. If you want to convince her nothing is wrong, don’t say “nothing.” I know, we girls are odd like that—but seriously. A whole lot more has got to go into the convincing part for us to believe. Sorry, more work on your side; but that’s just the way things are. Obviously, something has given us the impression something is wrong, and "nothing" wont change the behavior that set us off in the first place.

Suggestions:
-Ask, "Why do you think that?" (in a calm, non-confrontational manner)

-Validate her concerns: “I can see how you thought that.” (woman—and men—need constant validation, especially from those they care about most)

-Explain how you are currently feeling in life, even if it clearly depicts how happy you are. (or helps you see where you may be giving wrong impressions)

-Apologize for making her concerned (yes, even if it wasn't intentional and you had no idea you were doing it)

A Whole New World

A new fantastic point of view
No one to tell us no
Or where to go
Or say we're only dreaming

Unbelievable sights
Indescribable feeling
Soaring, tumbling, freewheeling
Through an endless diamond sky

I've purchased tickets to New York!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can I go now? Please!

Friends

Sometimes, you think someone is your friend when they're really not--like him.

There are the people who are always there for you, and you love so much--like her and her.

Sometimes, you meet someone and wish you could have grown up together-- like her.

Sometimes, you've never met someone, but you think you should--like her.

There is that one person who has been, and always will be your best friend--like her.

Some people you just love talking to, and miss when they're gone--like her.

Not very often, but sometimes, you can't be friends anymore--like with him.

Some friends would be so fun to hang out with, but they're sadly too far away--like her.

There is power in friendship, and there is strength in numbers. I'm so grateful for the people in my life that offer me support when I need it, chocolate when I don't, and love all the time.

Country Feelin'

For those who don't know me real well, you've got to understand I'm not much of a country music gal. It's not that I don't like it; I'm just not a "fan." But today, this song sang my soul. Enjoy.
